The Variety

Black Widow is a superhot hybrid pepper known for its dark coloration and aggressive appearance. It is not a single stabilized variety but a name used for several related high-heat crosses involving genetics such as Pimenta Leopard, Devil’s Tongue, and Primotalii.

The pods often begin deep black or purple and mature into red with dark mottling, sometimes featuring spikes or tail-like tips.

Flavor & Heat

Black Widow delivers a strong, lingering heat with a sharp, stinging burn. Beneath the heat, it carries fruity and slightly sweet undertones typical of chinense peppers.

Due to its intensity, it is best suited for sauces, powders, and controlled use in extreme spice applications.

Garden Notes

Plant outdoors only after temperatures are consistently warm. Like other superhot peppers, Black Widow requires a long growing season and performs best in full sun with well-drained soil.

Because this is an unstable hybrid, pod shape, color, and expression may vary between plants. Plants are typically productive and may benefit from staking.

🌱 Before You Plant

🌱 Check Night Time Temps

Peppers are warm-season plants and need heat to thrive.

Do not plant outdoors until after the danger of frost has passed and nighttime temperatures stay consistently mild.

Planting too early can slow growth and delay your harvest. Give peppers full sun, warm soil, and a little patience — they’ll take off when the season is right.

🌶️ Why Loud Peppers

We grow peppers across the full spectrum — from classic varieties to modern hybrids.

Black Widow represents the darker side of that spectrum, where color, variation, and heat create something unique.

From soil to scorch.
